Time to prepare for AFCAT exam?
Even though the exam is not the toughest, still there is a need to study and prepare dedicatedly for at least 6 months before the exam. A minimum of 3-4-hour duration must be set as a target to study for each day. Important Topics that must be covered for AFCAT

Verbal Ability: Under this section, the main focus must be on strengthening the basics of the language. Categories that need the most attention include Antonyms and Synonyms. Spotting the errors for which you need a good sense of pronouns, Adjectives and tenses, etc. Also, putting the sentences in the correct order that makes sense, known as jumbled or ordered sentences, need to be a strong skill.

Some topics under this category are reasoning sets based on arrangements and sequences, puzzle and order-based questions, hierarchy-based questions, data interpretation and finding a pattern in the given data.
General Ability and Awareness: This section holds great value for any candidate entering national services. This section consists of questions about general knowledge and what all is happening around us in the world. The idea is to test the alertness and curiosity in the field.
It includes geography, history, politics, economy and trade, international relations and other affairs that hold some value. So, the best way to prepare for this is to constantly keep in touch with newspapers and magazines. Prepare the list of neighbouring countries, rivers and mountains and historical monuments and national games, new laws, etc.
EKT: Lastly, this is the other part of the exam, which is only mandatory for ground and technical posts. The syllabus for this section is everything learnt during the engineering degree, mostly related to electrical, civil and mechanical.
